Preston's latest solo effort is a best-selling nonfiction book with the pulp title of “The Lost City of the Monkey God.” The name calls to mind H. Their individual novels aren't as good as the ones they write together, but they're both at the top of their craft. He and Child are among the best thriller writers working today. The girl’s name was Lucy and she was there to see a buddy of mine, who we’ll call Al. ![]() ![]() Men I’d been serving drinks to for years, who smiled so little if you told me they had no teeth I would’ve believed it, lit up like a kid meeting the world’s cutest bunny. This one was very much alive, and once she walked in she was also the life of the room. She was dead, but that didn’t mean I wasn’t holding my breath for a second or two every time I saw another girl with red hair. I knew she was bad news the minute she walked into the bar. ![]() ![]() ![]() There was so much traumatic bullying and self hatred that I don’t think this book is safe for fat people to read. Unfortunately, Lori has a bigger body.While this story is one that could and does happen to people in bigger bodies, her body was used as a plot point to cause her pain. That is a good book, and that is a book I would have really enjoyed reading. We follow her as she meets a boy who accepts her for who she is, and she finds her own voice with her art and the ability to stand up for herself. Lori herself suffers from severe anxiety. Her parents are recently divorced, and her mother is spiraling out of control, which leaves her the main caregiver for her autistic brother. ![]() She has moved to a new beach town that is much different from her life in the city.
